Raven House...

Centrally located close to downtown, and at the mouth of the Discovery Passage, this oceanfront property is an opportunity to indulge the senses. The sound of waves rolling onto the rocky beach; the taste of meals prepared in a gorgeous kitchen; the ocean smells drifting up to the upper balcony and hot tub; the spell-bounding views of coastal mountains and the sensory pleasure of the rain shower will all make this a memorable vacation.

A true west coast contemporary home, the builders have incorporated local fir, granite and fossils into the design. This is easily overlooked, as the eye is drawn to the focal point…the ocean outside, with views from nearly every room. In-floor heating ensures warm feet, and the heat recovery ventilation system replaces the entire house with fresh air every 2 hours.

The main floor is completely self-sufficient, with kitchen, dining room, living room, master bedroom with ensuite bath, laundry facilities, and guest bathroom all on one level.

The 800 square foot kitchen is ideal for catering meals for larger dinner parties. The back portion is a chef's dream...stainless steel, granite countertops, deep sinks, roll-out pantry, convection oven, and kitchen aid make food prep easy. The front half of the kitchen is geared towards entertaining with bar stools, ice maker, side-by-side refrigerator/freezer, and a beer and wine cooler. The entire kitchen is open concept to the dining room which looks onto the outside patio area to the ocean.

The master bedroom has a double soaker tub and King bed that are open concept to the ocean views, and a 2-person rain-shower complete with 3 showerheads. There is an outer sink; the room leads to more privacy in the back with a separate toilet and sink, and a dressing room.

Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms; one hosts a Queen bed with ocean views and access to the balcony and hot tub, the other bedroom has 2 twin beds that have an extra mattress to transform to a King. A heated tile floor leads in from the outside 4-person hot tub to another bathroom with a handheld shower that is part of an extra deep single soaker tub.

There is a computer/TV room with loveseat and couch, and a sliding door to the balcony. Here is an awesome view of Desolation Sound and Middlenatch marine sanctuary…there is wireless internet and a nice office space but good luck focusing on work!

A separate games room, warm and rich with a gas fireplace and fir flooring hosts a pool table, 42 inch flat screen plasma television with high definition, piano, and bar with full fridge and freezer.

The house is wired for satellite television and radio, and there are interior speakers on both floors, as well as outside speakers by the hot tub. An IPOD dock will be available if you prefer to bring your personal music selection.

Raven House is perched on opening of the Discovery Passage, which is the main waterway leading to Alaska and the main transportation passage for cruiseships, barges, and pleasure crafts. It is also an area of extreme currents and tides, which create massive amounts of oxygen for plant and animal life including spectacular mammals such as sea lions, dolphins, seals and orca whales.

There are two golf courses, extensive mountain bike trails, alpine hiking in Strathcona Park, kayak daytrips on Quadra Island, guided salmon fishing, orca and grizzly bear tours…and you might not even be able to drag yourself off this wonderful property!
