We provide these frequently asked questions about our Vancouver Island vacation home rentals for your convenience.
Q. How much do you really know about these homes and about Campbell River?
A. We live in the community that we represent. The owners are our island neighbours, and we work together to accurately portray the vacation homes. We are members of the Discovery Islands Chamber of Commerce, and are registered travel agents within British Columbia.
Q. What currency is the pricing shown in?
A. Pricing is shown in Canadian currency. To convert to other currencies, use the currency conversion icon located on each vacation home page, just below the rate chart.
Q. How do I pay for my Vacation Home?
A. Credit card is the simplest way to pay.
Q. What's the cancellation policy?
A. We understand that the best-laid plans sometimes need to change. If you must cancel and we are able to re-rent your Campbell River vacation rental home for the dates you had booked, we refund all monies paid other than a 10% administrative fee (min $125.)
Q. Can I rent a vacation home for a longer stay?
A. Definitely! Some guests prefer to settle into one community for a longer stay rather than moving around. Maybe you are considering a move to the West Coast of BC or maybe you are able to work away from your home base. Whatever the reason, staying in a well equipped home in a beautiful location is a great way to go! You might want to come in mid or low season, when discounts are often available for a long stay.
Q. How do we get to Campbell River?
A. For detailed travel information please visit our Travel Information page.
In a nutshell - From Vancouver, British Columbia you can fly to Campbell River or Comox on Vancouver Island and rent a vehicle at either airport. You can also drive from Vancouver - catch a BC Ferry to Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, then drive north to Campbell River (about a 2 hour drive).
From Seattle, Washington, USA, you can take the MV Coho Ferry to Victoria, Vancouver Island, BC. It is a 3 hour drive from Victoria north to Campbell River. In the summer it may be possible to fly from Seattle to Campbell River, BC.
Q. What's the weather like in Campbell River?
A. In high season, the trend over the past 5 years has been for sunny and dry weather. However, this is the West Coast and some summers are cooler and moister. Off-season tends to be mild, but it can also be wet and windy at times.
Q. What's there to do in Campbell River in the summer time?
A. Outside - just about everything! Hike (in Strathcona Park, Mt. Washington, or one of the many local parks), bike (mountain or road), kayak (many beautiful bays and islands to explore), boat tours (daytrips to see wildlife and tidal rapids), visit artists (at home, in the studios), have a massage or visit a day spa, beach comb (tidal pools and driftwood), picnic (at local beaches or visit nearby Quadra Island for the day), swim (salt water or fresh), fishing (saltwater salmon fishing or freshwater trout and steelhead), paint or take photographs (spectacular scenery EVERYWHERE) and perhaps most important, slow down, relax and enjoy the laid-back Vancouver Island lifestyle.
Q. What is there to do in Campbell River in the off-season?
A. Life is even more peaceful and relaxed in the off-season. You can still do many of the activities listed above, although weather will influence your choices. Campbell River's cultural life is at its best from September to May, so you may want to join us at the Campbell River Community Centre, Tidemark Theatre, Royal Canadian Legions or local pubs for good quality entertainment. Or you may just want to come to Campbell River and "veg out" for a personal retreat to recharge your batteries.
Q. Can I bring pets? Is there Internet?
A. Many of your questions can be answered by going to the webpage of the vacation home you are interested in and checking the chart of amenities on the right hand menu bar. If the information you are wanting is not there, call or email us. We know each of the homes well and can answer all your questions.
Q. Can I make long distance calls from the vacation rental home phones?
A. All vacation home phones have a long distance block in place. You can make local calls and you can receive long distance calls but to make long distance calls you need to purchase a long distance calling card or use your cell phone.
Q. Where are the vacation rental homes located?
A. Click here! (the map location is located at the top right of each page)
Q. What do I need to bring with me?
A. All of our vacation rental homes are fully outfitted with linens, bedding and dishes. Just bring your personal belongings and food.
Q. What if something goes wrong while I am visiting?
A. That’s an advantage of dealing with a local company! We're here and will do our best to solve any problem that may arise during your visit.
Q. Do I have to clean the vacation home before I leave?
A. The cottage or home should be left tidy, dishes should be washed clean and put away, furniture should be in its original position, garbage neatly disposed of and the key left in the designated place. You do not need to clean bathrooms or do laundry.
Q. What does the Accidental Damage Plan cover?
A. For a fee of $40, the ADP Plan covers only accidental damage to the home or property up to a limit of $500. The specifics of this plan are outlined on the Guest Agreement and Reservation form. It does not cover unreported damage or excessive cleaning. A security deposit agreement is available for larger groups or longer rentals.
